Automatic Logistic Support System
Bossard is one of the biggest suppliers of screws, other fastenings and related services having a world-wide network of sales and distribution outlets. Bossard have formed a new subsidiary (Bossard Ltd. Technology) to develop and market a ground breaking supply chain management system. This is a strategic undertaking relying heavily on staying ahead of the competition and thus all activities and system developments are highly time critical.
Syseca have developed the key information management component of the above system which is called 'BIM' or Bossard Inventory Management system.
The system allows Users to monitor quantities of items in stock over the Internet and complete an automated stock replenishment process on a
just in time basis.
BIM has a client/server (Delphi/Oracle) architecture and utilises Oracle Portal technology for web deployment.
BIM allows Bossard Ltd. to:
- Automatically monitor the status of all components in containers on assembly lines at any defined remote location(s)
- Compute the number of components in each container and raise alarms if quantities fall below acceptable levels
- Trigger automatic ordering for replenishment on a component and location basis thus dealing directly with appropriate suppliers
- Keep track of the replenishment process and raise subsequent alarms if re-stocking does not occur within defined time limits
- Generate reports and statistics describing the usage of components on a customer, component or assembly line basis
- Provide users of the system with access over the internet, to appropriate statistics and status reports for their own orders and assembly lines.
The system is truly global and can keep track of items in any location (any customer worldwide) which is equipped with the necessary remote devices and a telephone line.
Bossard intends to market the system as a product to any organisations with a need to manage a component driven, automated assembly process.
