Smart Grid: Internet Data Exchange (B2B, eMessaging)
Our Electronic Data Interchange and Logging (EDIL) platform comprises a Systems Development Framework that enables collaborating organisations to:
- Exchange business data (B2B) in a secure, on-line, real time environment including over the Internet if required;
- Centralise the control and coordination of key business services using an Application Service Provider (ASP) approach to the development and deployment of User Interface modules and system to system interfaces;
- Co-ordinate business systems by integrating their activities at either the Application Server or Database layer.
EDIL can for example facilitate the data exchange between central Transmission System Coordinator and a Regional Transmission System Operator, acting as central data hub, as shown in the following diagram:
EDIL Architecture
EDIL has a clear "3 tier" architecture including:
- Java based EDIL Clients (Browser) to provide a comfortable and fully functional working environment for human system users,
- Java based Application Server to provide centralised control and co-ordination of business functionality,
- Oracle database (others are possible)
EDIL Baseline Functionality
- Login/Security control to ensure only authorised Users can access EDIL and that they can only use their own data;
- Secure, confirmed, real time communication of data between EDIL Clients and the EDIL Application Server on either a ‘point to point’ or ‘broadcast’ basis;
- A defined data exchange interface to enable Application Server to Application Server or Database to Database level communication between EDIL and other systems;
- On-line Query / Reporting tool enabling Users to view and download their data to a .csv file for further analysis
